Internships are important in all fields, but even more important in the actuarial field. IMHO the reason is because the vast majority of actuarial students don't pursue Masters degrees. Therefore, employers use the internships to gauge the candidates.
Touro students re at a disadvantage because we generally have one (or two) less summer in college (yeshiva, seminary credits etc.). Therefore it's integral for us to pass an exam before the beginning of your 2nd year to be able to have a chance at getting something for the summer before your senior year.
Many companies recruit summer interns as early as October so stay on your toes.
